Managing National Events With Seamless Container Logistics

Kevin manages logistics for Tennis Australia. He’s responsible for logistics for their major national and international sporting events. As a customer for over half a decade, Kevin buys a range of containers each year from 8ft to 20ft, purpose built site offices and non-standard containers which are required exclusively for the events. We generally buy containers from 1300SPAREBOX each year as we know the quality is excellent and we can use them as an asset for the following three to four years.

We run big events, with thousands of vehicles and deliveries so the asset cycle is very challenging. The events get bigger and more complex every year so we need partners who we can rely on. The timeframe for delivering and then removing structures before and after events is tiny. Therefore, the logistics of using a reconfigured 10ft or 20ft shipping container are a lot easier (and more cost effective!) than erecting a temporary portable building. We need to work with partners that understand this, have the experience to deliver precisely on time and know where the stock needs to be positioned. The importance of reliable and experienced drivers who follow event protocol can’t be underestimated and 1300SPAREBOX never fail us on this.

I’m very informed, at every step. The team keep me updated whilst recognising that I’m really busy with other things. When I want to speak to someone, they’re available. I can speak to anyone at any time. We’re very time sensitive when it comes to delivery and pick-up and the yard opens early at 6am which means we can get in early.

Each year we do things a bit differently so we’re constantly looking for new solutions that weren’t available 12 months ago. The team at 1300SPAREBOX can source these solutions in time for things we need. At the moment, they’re providing us with additional storage in containers at their Laverton depot for easy access to our event goods that we no longer have space for in our own warehouse.
